BEITBRIDGE,Jul 17, (Southern Eye Live) - Local political activist Bhekhimpilo Mbedzi, who was earlier feared to have been abducted by State agents, surfaced in court today charged with incitement to violence.
Mbedzi, 41, was denied bail and remanded to July 21, 2026.
The State alleges that his actions contravened Section 187 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, read with provisions of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act after he called for mass protests against the recently enacted Constitutional Amendment Act 3 (CAB3) which extends President Emmerson Mnangagwa's current tenure by two years.
It is alleged that on July 10, 2026, Mbedzi posted a self-recorded video on his Facebook page calling on Zimbabweans to take part in a demonstration slated for July 31, 2026.
