My last three articles were based on the title: Office of the Pope Demonised.

This article is based on the visions of Apostle John as revealed in the book of Revelation 17. Verses 1-6 read: Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgement of the great harlot who is seated upon many waters, with whom the Kings of the earth have committed fornication, and with the wine of whose formation the dwellers on earth have become drunk”.

“And he carried me into the wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and bedecked with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her fornications, and on her forehead was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of harlots and of earth’s abominations”.

Again, some scholars and interpreters have linked the woman with the papacy and the church.

Purple and scarlet are the favourate colours worn by the church’s senior religious officials. Gold, jewels and pearls represent riches.

It is a well-known fact that the church led by the Pope is very rich. It is also noted that some of the doctrines of the church did incorporate some pagan beliefs dating back from the reign of the Christian Roman Emperors.

They worked in cahoots with each other in formulating some of those doctrines, laced with some impurities of the pagan practices, to appease followers of both sides. Most of these doctrines of impurity are still intact to this day.

In my own opinion which I penned in past articles, I expressed my reservations on some of the doctrines and practices which are of pagan origin.

Among these were the habits of worshipping some sculptures in the image of Mother Mary and even of Jesus Christ himself.

The second commandment clearly forbids this habit, as it reads: You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them.”

Bowing down in worship to these “graven images” is very much practiced within the church and other breakaway religious groups.

The other doctrine which I have also pointed out to be based on pagan practices is that of the Holy Trinity.

The Romans worshipped multiple Gods, hence the first Christian Roman Emperor, Constantine, began the idea of the 3-in-1 godhead that was at that time vehemently rejected by the Papacy.

However, with the passage of time, subsequent pontiffs succumbed under political pressure from other Christian Roman Emperors to be a part of our Christian religion.

Pagan worship of multiple gods thus gained victory. “The Lord our God is one”, says Jesus Christ in many books of our New Testament.

A woman in God’s language is  a representation of either a faithful or sinful people. It can also represent a religious system in Bible prophecy.

A faithful woman refers to God-fearing and law-abiding religions. An adulterous woman, or a whore, denotes those who have deviated from following the laid down precepts and principles of God to follow pagan practices of evil, known as abominations. A beast in Bible prophecy refers to a kingdom, a king or a nation.

The vision of a combination of a beast and a woman is similarly a representation of a union between a religious organisation and nations.

This was the kind of union that existed between the Roman Empire and the church led by the Popes at the time, when most the doctrines of impurities came into being.

An angel of the Lord explained to John the representation of the waters where the great harlot was seated (Rev. 17:15): “The waters that you saw, where the harlot is seated, are people and multitudes and nations and tongues”.

The church headquartered in Rome has a huge following spanning across many nations of the earth. Its influence is worldwide.

The Pope wields so much power that even the kings and other world leaders bow down to him.

On the woman’s head was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of harlots and of earth’s abominations”.

The word and the name of the ancient Babylon was most likely derived from that of the ancient city of Babel, mentioned in Genesis 11 of our Bible.

We are told that these people sought to outshine our Almighty God by trying to build a tower that would reach the heavens.

The Lord then brought their ambitions to an abrupt halt by the confusion of the language of which no other of them could understand each other. They became confused and abandoned their works.

Babylon was the first superpower of the world. It was built with an identical mindset, to glorify and honour man, instead of God.

In Daniel 4:30 are the words of King Nebuchadnezzar, who built it. He spoke; “Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?”

Babylon became a haven for several satanic practices. The people worshipped several gods and engaged in other multitudes of pagan practices which are labelled as abominations.

The woman (religious organisation), “with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitations of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication,” now takes the place of Babylon, the epicenter of a sinful people.

It would translate to mean that the multitudes of followers across the world have now been “intoxicated” with the false doctrines and abominations practiced within the religious system of worship aided by some nations of the world.

Are we not seeing many nations across the globe now legalising same-sex marriages? And this performed within some churches?

Is acceptance of homosexuality not now being used as a pre-condition or yardstick by some superpowers to qualify to be a “democratic country”? Are these things not a blasphemy to the Lord our God?
