Two brothers from Bindura are facing murder charges after they fatally assaulted a neighbour on Christmas Day.

Munyaradzi Chipindu (39) and Tamuka Chipindu (42), appeared before Bindura Magistrate Felix Chauromwe last week and were remanded in custody.

Prosecutor Sheilla Maribha alleged that on December 25 at Piedmont Farm in Bindura, Tamuka witnessed his 14-year-old son being assaulted by Victor Phiri (21). Tamuka intervened and fought with Phiri, but was overpowered.

His brother, Munyaradzi, then joined the altercation and struck Phiri in the head with an empty bottle, rendering him unconscious.

Phiri was later taken to his house by Good Samaritans, where he subsequently died.
