Police in Matabeleland South have arrested three suspects in connection with alleged drug trafficking along the Beitbridge-Bulawayo Road.

Police identified the suspects as Mthokozisi Patrick Hlophe, 46, Tapiwa Dube, 38, and Dalubuhle Sibanda, 41.

In a statement, police said the trio was intercepted at the 60km peg while travelling in a Nissan Hardbody double cab carrying 120.244 kilogrammes of dagga.

“The suspects were intercepted during an operation targeting drug and substance trafficking,” police said.

“The recovered consignment was confiscated and the suspects are expected to appear in court facing drug trafficking charges.”

Police said they had intensified operations targeting drug and substance abuse syndicates across the country and warned the public against engaging in smuggling, peddling and trafficking of illegal substances.
