Masvingo is set for a night of laughter this Saturday as Harare-based comedians Wencelacy “Kadem The Comic” Katuka and Sikhanyiso “Ckanyiso DatGuy” Mlambo bring their hit show Two Comedians Looking For Accommodation to the Charles Austin Theatre.

The production is a creative fusion of stand-up comedy and live theatre, following two comedians as they hilariously navigate the realities of finding accommodation in Zimbabwe.

Through humour and storytelling, the show explores everyday experiences faced by tenants and landlords, making it both entertaining and relatable.

The Masvingo performance is part of a national tour that will also take the show to Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, and Gweru, giving audiences across the country a chance to experience the unique production.

In an interview, Katuka said the show was rooted in real-life experiences and aims to connect with audiences on a deeper level.

“Through comedy storytelling, we aim to entertain while reflecting on the societal realities of living together,” he said.  “We explore the challenges of looking for accommodation in a humorous way that resonates with many people.”

He revealed that the concept had been in development for years.

“This idea has been with us for about five years,” Katuka added. “Ckanyiso and I have lived together, moving from place to place, and those shared experiences inspired this show. It’s different because we perform together on stage at the same time, blending stand-up comedy with live theatre.”

He added that audiences in Masvingo can expect something fresh and engaging.

“People should prepare for a show they have never seen before. We are bringing a unique style of comedy where two comedians deliver jokes simultaneously. After a successful launch in Harare, we have refined the show, and this edition is specially tailored for Masvingo,” he said.

Katuka noted that beyond entertainment, the show carries a relatable message.

“Our fans have followed us individually, but this show brings them together,” he said.

“It also highlights everyday rental experiences that people often accept as normal, yet they are not.”

Katuka, widely known for his charismatic stage presence, is also recognised for his role as Captain Tito in the local sitcom Special Class.

He was part of the 2018 stand-up comedy special Comic Tick and has performed internationally in Botswana and the United States. His experience spans acting, production, scriptwriting, and live performance.

Mlambo, popularly known as Ckanyiso DatGuy, is a versatile multilingual comedian and actor celebrated for his sharp wit and engaging storytelling.

He has featured in productions such as Special Class, PaTown, and Gilbert loQeqetshile, and has performed at platforms, including Intwasa Festival and Simuka Comedy shows.

With both comedians bringing their unique strengths to the stage, Two Comedians Looking For Accommodation promises to deliver a memorable night of laughter while shedding light on the shared realities of everyday Zimbabwean life.
