Gweru-based businessman Tinashe Manzungu has been re-elected as the Zimbabwe Building Contractors Association (ZBCA) president paving way for growth in the construction sector.

He was elected at the association’s annual general meeting recently held in the Midlands capital.

Manzungu, who was first elected as ZBCA president in 2024, has cemented his position in the construction industry and rose from humble beginnings to build a reputable construction empire.

The Zimbuild chief executive re-election comes at a time the country’s construction sector is undergoing massive transformation driven by significant government projects and a boom in private sector commercial developments.

“I am honoured to have been re-elected for the 2026-2027 construction industry (ZBCA) presidency,” Manzungu said.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled to have been granted a new mandate to continue serving as the construction president.

“To me this is a reflection to the powerful testament on the trust our members place in the infrastructure development agenda we are driving.”

The multi-award winning entrepreneur said his vision for ZBCA was to make sure the association aligns with government’s national development strategy 2, focusing on infrastructure development and economic growth.

Manzungu said there was need for collaboration between government and stakeholders to drive the construction industry forward.

He said the next two years at the helm of ZBCA will be defined by advocating for policies that promote local construction companies, fair tender processes and increase in access to financing options.

“We need to be innovative and adopt an inclusive approach extending to small to medium scale contractors in provinces beyond the major metropolitan areas,”he said.
