A 23-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man from Emakhandeni has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was convicted of raping his eight-year-old neighbour.
The accused person, whose identity was withheld to protect the victim’s identity, was arraigned before Bulawayo regional magistrate, Mark Dzira, and was found guilty of the offence.
The court heard that on February 25 at around midday, the complainant was passing by the accused person’s gate and he accused called her and she went to him.
He then asked her to get into the house and she refused, before he grabbed the minor, forcing her into the room and raped her
once.
After the incident, the accused then threatened to stab the young victim with a knife if she disclosed the matter.
