Government plans to establish two additional faculties at the ED Mnangagwa Law School in Midlands with student accommodation also under construction.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services minister, Dr Soda Zhemu, said the developments would strengthen the institution’s capacity and improve the learning environment for students.
“The focus at the moment is on the Law School, but we were informed that two other faculties will soon be established,” he said.
He said the expansion demonstrated the institution’s potential to become an important centre for higher education and professional training.
“Some work is currently underway, and we are encouraged by the progress that we have seen,” Zhemu said.
He also highlighted developments in student accommodation, saying the construction of hostels was being undertaken through a partnership between the university and a pension fund.

According to Zhemu, the accommodation project is expected to be completed within the next four months, providing much-needed accommodation for students enrolled at the Law School.
“On student accommodation, we were advised that hostels are under construction through a partnership between the university and a pension fund. The indications are that the hostels will be complete within the next four months,” he said.
The minister said the completion of the hostels would significantly improve the welfare of students by reducing the distance they have to travel to attend lectures and access other services at the institution.
The establishment of additional faculties is also expected to widen opportunities for students to pursue different fields of study.
