HARARE, Apr. 29 (NewsDay Live) — A total of 144 Zimbabwean accounting and finance professionals have earned the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) said Tuesday.

The recipients were honoured at a convocation ceremony in Harare on April 29, 2026, marking completion of CIMA’s CGMA Professional Qualification — a globally recognised credential that equips holders with strategic decision-making and long-term performance management skills.

CIMA Zimbabwe Country Director Gordian Bowa said the designation reflects “technical competence, commercial acumen and the ability to drive long-term value creation,” positioning recipients to contribute meaningfully to their organisations and the broader economy.

CIMA Vice President for Africa Tariro Mutizwa said the achievement underscores “sustained effort, resilience and a strong commitment to professional excellence.”

The CGMA qualification offers multiple entry routes, allowing school leavers to start at certificate level, while graduates can enter at professional stages. Candidates must complete both the qualification and relevant practical experience to earn the designation.

Founded in 1919, CIMA is the world’s largest professional body of management accountants, with members and candidates in more than 150 countries. It is a founding member of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, which represents over 580,000 professionals worldwide.
