A CONSTRUCTION company director has appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding her firm of US$55 000.
The accused, Elizabeth Chidavaenzi, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi and was remanded out of custody to October 10 for routine remand.
The complainant is Enerst Makunde.
Circumstances are that sometime in 2001, Makunde (47) saw an advertisement about a residential stand being sold in Waterfalls, Harare.
It is alleged that Makunde visited the address and was informed that the stand was still available.

Makunde paid ZWL$150 000 and an agreement of sale was entered between the complainant and Champion Constructors company and receipts were generated by Chidavaenzi.
On May 8 this year, Makunde saw the same stand being advertised in the newspapers.
The court also heard that on May 16 this year, Makunde discovered that Opulent Homes Estate Agents was selling the same stand for US$55 000.
Makunde reportedly inquired about the issue and was informed that they had received an instruction from Chidavaenzi to sell the stand on her behalf.
As a result of Chidavaenzi’s actions, Makunde allegedly suffered a prejudice of ZWL$150 000.
