We are told Dynamos rejected a massive sponsorship proposal which could have seen the club receive a massive US$1.5 million and a US$225 000 luxury bus.
They also turned down a US$2 million deal from a commercial bank in favour of the AfricaBet deal which saw four of their executives, David Chikomo, Bartson Nkoma, Spencer Chihota, and Justice Mubayi, resign in protest to its signing.
According to the proposal, the sponsor was willing to provide US$1.5 million for player and coach salaries, US$500 000 for winning bonuses, and US$300 000 for travelling expenses.
On top of that, there was also a package which was to be set aside for player sign on fees but Dynamos thought the sponsorship was not their cup of tea.
This was on top of another separate sponsorship for player medical cover which the club also turned down and documents to that effect are at hand.
Sadly, questions are now being raised as to the benefits of the AfricaBet deal as the club has turned to the pockets of club executive members club chairman Vincent Chawonza, Divine Sena, and Desmond Bvute, for survival.
We also understand that there are former executives who are also owed money on top of former coach Genesis Mangombe who is waiting on the wings for his package.
Despite that outside portrayal that the club has a massive sponsorship from AfricaBet, Dynamos were kicked out of the CAF Confederation Cup after failing to pay former coach Saul Chaminuka just US$13 000.
Whatever the terms of their agreement is, surely if AfricaBet were really into Dynamos, with all the money they have, they should not have allowed the situation to go off the boil like it did.
Surely, even with that AfricaBet deal at hand, Dynamos had to try to borrow from the Premier Soccer League to settle Chaminuka's dues and were turned down.
We are not sure whether it is true of what we hear that Dynamos are sharing 50-50% of their gate takings with AfricaBet.
We also hear that AfricaBet have also seconded their finance person to help sort out the financial mess at Zimbabwe's most popular football team.
In his apology over the Caf Confederation Cup debacle, Chawonza mentions that the Dynamos board has appointed a finance person but does not tell us who are the board as we all know that Benard Marriot is the board.
Is AfricaBet the board that has appointed the finance person ?
If that is true, then this is no longer sponsorship but fund raising for the sponsor and a complete takeover of Dynamos albeit in silence.
Under these assumed circumstances, the next thing we could hear is that Dynamos has changed its name to Dynamos AfricaBet or somewhere around that name to promote business interests.
That would signify the end of the team that the likes of Richard Chiminya, Jairos Banda, Josiah Akende, Obedia Sarupinda, Freddy Mkwesha, Sam Dauya, Patrick Dzvene and Benard Marriot -- amongst others -- fought so hard to establish
At the moment, those who follow the club do not see the mess their club is in because Dembare are winning under Romanian coach Aristica Cioaba.
The supporters do not care what happens behind the scenes as long as their team is winning but react only when results go the other way round.
What we only hope for is that the Caf Confederation Cup mess is not the beginning of many such similar incidents to come for that might invite trouble in an already shacking home.
