Machiva Primary School is set to make history as the school, for the first time in its existence, will represent Zaka South at the provincial stage of the sports competitions.

The announcement follows Friday's sporting events, where the Zaka South Sporting District placed first overall among the participating areas of Zaka North, Zaka East, and Zaka South.

Teams were drawn from various chiefdoms. Zaka South schools hailed from Chief Bota, with a few from Chief Ndanga and Chief Nhema.

Zaka East schools represented Chief Nhema and Chief Ndanga, including Chipinda and Mugudubi, while Zaka North schools were primarily from Chief Nyakunhuwa and Ndanga.

On the day, Zaka South won the boys' football through Machiva Primary, netball through Muzondidya  boys' and girls' handball through Machiva Primary,basketball through Rudhanda Primary, and rugby through Dabwa Primary.

Machiva Primary’s football and handball teams cruised through the competition, performing exceptionally at the district level and earning the right to progress to the provincial stage.

At the provincials, they will be joined by the basketball team from Rudhanda Primary and the rugby team from Dabwa Primary.

At Machiva Primary, the school community is filled with pride and joy. The teams were commended by school representative David Chavizha, who praised their resilience, stating that the players showed determination throughout the competitions and "never gave up."

The provincial competitions will be held next Friday, and Machiva Primary is now fully focused and ready to represent Zaka South with pride, unity, and a fighting spirit.
