SHEASHAM'S PSL fairytale ended on a sad note after losing 2-1 to FC Platinum at Mandava stadium yesterday.

The Gweru-based side was relegated alongside Black Rhinos, Triangle FC and Craneborne Bullets.

Sheasham needed an outright win, but it was not to be as they succumbed to goals by Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya and Lawrence Mhlanga in either half of the match.

William Stima scored their consolation goal, but it was not enough to help them retain the PSL status.

Sheasham coach Lizwe Sweswe cut a sombre figure after seeing his hopes of remaining in the PSL crashed.

"It's the situation at hand. We could have done better earlier in the season. But now we have to work hard, we will go down together.

"I will remain here to make sure that we correct our mistakes. This is sad, we could have survived early.

"We have to go down and rebuild the team's foundation. As for now, I think we will move to assess how we failed from game one to 34 so that we can start again," he said.

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza said: "We wanted to end on this note. We have always wanted to play entertaining football.

"It was a good season for us, but we had a few hiccups. We could have done well but this is a good ending."

FC Platinum ended the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season with 55 points on their tally.

Black Rhinos also sunk into the unfashionable second tier league despite doing their best to beat Simba 1-0 at Baobab Stadium thanks to a second half strike by Dareen Mutimuzunze.

In Chisumbanje, Triangle FC were also relegated after they let slip a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 to hosts Green Fuel.

However, a win for them would not have been enough after Yadah and ZPC Kariba got maximum points to ensure survival.

Yadah pulled off another miracle escape after beating giants Dynamos in a Harare derby.

King Nadolo and  Jerry Chipangura gave the Miracle Boys a 2-0 lead before Arthur Musiyiwa got the consolation goal.
