Two women from Chitungwiza have been arrested for the illegal possession of unregistered medicines.

Following a tip-off on July 2, 2026, police raided the women from Zengeza 5 identified as Prudence Nhakaza (23) and Elizabeth Mukomberanwa (46) at their premises and recovered five-litre containers of suspected Broncleer syrup.

Officers also seized empty 100ml bottles, bottle caps, and cardboard boxes, suggesting a sophisticated operation designed for the repackaging and distribution of illicit substances.

This operation is part of an intensified national campaign by the ZRP to eradicate the "scourge" of drug and substance abuse.

Both women now face charges under the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act. Law enforcement reiterated that trafficking unregistered pharmaceuticals will lead to swift prosecution, regardless of the suspect's age or gender.
