Chivi Central Constituency legislator Exevia Maoneke has intensified efforts to transform livelihoods in the constituency through a broad-based developmental agenda focusing on infrastructure rehabilitation, agricultural support, healthcare improvement, and the empowerment of women and youths.
The latest intervention saw the legislator donating agricultural inputs and hospital beds to the Chishave community, a move residents described as a practical demonstration of leadership committed to improving people’s welfare.
Speaking during a side interview after handing over the donations at Chishave Hospital, Maoneke said his development thrust is anchored on the philosophy of inclusive growth and ensuring that no community is marginalised.
“Community health remains one of our top priorities as leaders, following the president’s vision that no person and no place should be left behind in development,” said Maoneke.
He said the donation of hospital beds was aimed at improving healthcare delivery and restoring dignity within rural health institutions, while the farming inputs were meant to strengthen household food security and boost agricultural productivity in the constituency.
According to Maoneke, the donations form part of a wider developmental roadmap designed to uplift communities through sustainable and people-centred programmes aligned with National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), Vision 2030 and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“Our agenda as leadership is not only about addressing immediate needs but creating sustainable opportunities for communities to thrive,” he said.
“We are focusing on agriculture, infrastructure development, healthcare services, and empowering women and youths so that every household benefits from national development.”
The legislator noted that rural transformation requires practical interventions that directly touch the lives of ordinary citizens, particularly vulnerable groups such as women, youths, and small-scale farmers.
He said empowering women and youths through income-generating projects, vocational skills training, and agricultural initiatives remains central to his constituency development strategy.
“Youths and women are the backbone of our communities. When they are empowered economically, the entire community develops,” Maoneke said.
“That is why we are supporting initiatives that promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and participation in productive economic activities.”
Community members commended the legislator for what they described as visible and people-oriented leadership.
Health workers at Chishave Hospital said the donation of beds would help improve patient care and ease pressure on existing resources at the institution.
Local villagers also welcomed the agricultural inputs, saying the support would go a long way in assisting vulnerable families ahead of the farming season amid recurring climate-related challenges affecting agricultural production.
Residents also praised ongoing developmental initiatives being spearheaded in the constituency, which they said are gradually improving living standards in remote areas.
Maoneke reiterated that development should be inclusive and community-driven, adding that his office will continue engaging local communities to identify priority areas requiring intervention.
