The National Multi-Faith for Economic Dialogue (Namfed) coalition says it has formally endorsed President Emmerson Mnangagwa's continuation in office beyond 2030 following its nationwide inter-provincial consultations.
Namfed boasts of several members from the apostolic sects, sangomas and spirit mediums.
In a press statement, Namfed, chief convener Obey Mapuranga said all the country's 10 provinces had endorsed Mnangagwa's extended rule due to his contribution to macro-economic stability and social services delivery, particularly in rural areas.
"Namfed has discharged its duty to the nation by formally communica ting the Declaration of Ecclesiastical Authority of the Zimbabwean religious constituency,” Mapuranga said.
“We urge the Zanu PF party and government to embrace this resolution as a powerful godly affirmation from the people, reinforcing the legitimacy and urgency of the current policy direction and affirmation of presidential term extension," Mapuranga said.
"We stand ready to divinely work with the government of the second republic of Zimbabwe in a deepened social, political and economic dialogue to ensure that every policy, every statute, and every developmental project is imbued with the spirit of unity, integrity, and sustainable prosperity, accelerating our collective march towards Vision 2030 and beyond."
Mapuraranga said the endorsement was seen as a "divine strategic and deeply considered ecumenical position" supporting Zimbabwe's Vision 2030 goals.
The endorsement came after Zanu PF recently agreed to adopt resolution number one meant to extend Mnangagwa’s rule to 2030 at ts annual conference held in October.
