With only 16 days left before the country’s general elections, hip hop artiste Mukudzei “Holy 10” Chitsama has declared his unwavering support for the incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa amid disappointment from sections of music lovers online.

The trendy music maker has for some time left fans guessing his political allegiance although he had been seen countless times mingling with the ruling Zanu PF elite and at one point accepting a new Mercedes Benz vehicle from Mnangwagwa’s sons.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the 24-year-old father of two can be heard campaigning and pledging support for the ruling party leader.

“I am proud of my country Zimbabwe. Over the weekend we were in Beitbridge, we have seen the development that is being done at the border post (it is) totally amazing,” bragged the Ndaremerwa singer before regurgitating his tagline “leader of the youth, speaker of the truth”.

“We have been in and out of the airport, things are changing and I want to tell you that money has been availed under the drugs and substance abuse mitigation fund so this is for the youths, this is the change.

“So, we want to thank the comrade himself President Emmerson Mnangwagwa, we are supporting you, we are with you the President of the people.”

With campaigns for the upcoming harmonised polls in full swing, a significant number of celebrities and artistes have thrown their weight behind the ruling party in what analysts described as a capture of opinion makers.

Last week, a video of female rapper Kikky Badass publicly endorsing Mnangagwa, sparked heated debate across social media platforms.

Known for her controversial lyrics, the artiste shockingly said:

“Vamwe vanoda kutibawo. Pamberi nani? NaVaMnangagwa…2023 E.D pfee pfee pfeee! Hoyooo”
