ZIMBABWE Cricket Under-19 team manager Frank Mawoza has moved swiftly to distance himself from a wave of social media posts attacking Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart, attributed to him.
Mawoza has been a target of social media abuse because of the because of the posts from the fake account which attacked Coltart's person as well as talking about his health.
The Young Chevrons manager reminded the cricketing public where his energy truly lies, on preparing the next generation of Zimbabwean cricketers for the international stage.
The posts, pushed by an impersonating account calling itself "Zolsky," attempted to put words in Mawoza's mouth about the Mayor. Mawoza wasted no time correcting the record.
"Let me put it on record that I have no connection whatsoever to the Zolsky account that posts using my name as part of its username," Mawoza said.
"I am not active on X but I had to open an account because of that Zolsky X account. The opinion expressed by the Zolsky account have no bearing whatsoever on me and do not reflect my views."

He also dismissed allegations that he made derogatory remarks about Coltart.
While I totally disagree with Mayor Coltart’s approach in his criticism of Zimbabwe cricket and black players, it is not in my character to attack people in that fashion, Mr Coltart for all his mistakes and flaws remains a human being and a family man. I hope this clarification puts this matter to bed," Mawoza said.
Zimbabwe Cricket has previously invited Coltart to a round table discussion specifically to engage more closely with his views, a mark of the respect his commitment to the sport commands even when his opinions ruffle feathers.
That mutual respect between administrators and one of Bulawayo's most cricket-literate public figures is exactly what this episode of impersonation tried, and failed, to undermine.
With the clarification now on record, Mawoza's focus turns back to where it belongs, readying the Under-19 Chevrons for their upcoming ICC assignments, with the same professionalism and composure he has shown in dealing with this distraction.
