ZIMBABWE international and Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer after parting ways with Luton Town.
Nakamba’s departure from Luton ends a memorable three-year spell at Kenilworth Road that began when he joined the Hatters on loan from Aston Villa during the January transfer window of the 2022/23 season.
In a statement released on Monday night, Luton Town said the split was by mutual agreement, praising Nakamba’s contribution, particularly recalling his penalty
in the shoot-out win over Coventry City.
“Marvelous has been a huge part of our success, a special character who came to add real quality at the time we needed it to help us to promotion,” said chief executive Gary Sweet.
“He has been a pleasure to have around the Club, always smiling, even through some tough times personally with injury. Everyone at Luton Town thanks Marv for his contribution in his three years at Kenilworth Road, he will always be a welcome visitor and we wish him every success for his future career.”

The move to Sheffield Wednesday comes at a critical moment for the Championship side. The Owls sit at the bottom of the table with -7 points after 29 matches, struggling under a combined 18-point deduction due to administration and unpaid wages.
Nakamba’s experience and leadership are expected to strengthen the midfield, provide defensive stability, and inject creativity into the team.
Nakamba began his career with Bantu Rovers in Zimbabwe and has since played in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the English Premier League. He made 58 top-flight appearances over four seasons with Aston Villa before joining Luton in January 2023.
