Simba Bhora……..0

(Simba Bhora won 4-3 after a penalty shootout)

SHAMVA-BASED Northern Region Soccer League side Simba Bhora booked their place in the final of the Axis Super 8 Solutions Cup after riding their luck to edge Herentals U20 in a cagey semi-final, which was decided after a nail-biting penalty shoot-out at Morris Depot yesterday.

Ninety minutes were not enough to separate the two sides in a battle between the top two teams, which are setting the pace in the Zifa Northern Region Division One title race.

Simba Bhora created many opportunities, but failed to utilise them while a defensively disciplined Herentals U20 side did not offer much in attack.

During the penalty shootout, Simba Bhora converted through Tinashe Balakasi Maswera, Webster Tafa, Honey Chimutimunzeve and Genius Saukila while Barnabas Mushunje had his spot-kick saved.

Herentals, who needed a penalty shoot win in the quarterfinals against Mambas, converted their spot-kicks through Dominoco Pilgrim, Tinashe Mhuru, and Jimmy Jimu before faltering at the end when Salif Cheya and Rinos Majarira both missed, handing Simba Bhora the win.

Mushunge was named man of the match after dictating the pace of the match in midfield during regulation time.

The Axis Solution Super 8 Cup will continue today with another semi-final between Golden Eagles and Trojan Stars at Ellis Robins School before a long break as the final will be played at the end of the season.
