There is urgent need to increase the availability of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to the most remote areas across the country in order to avert energy woes weighing heavily on our environment, Kensys Gas — a local supplier and distributor — head of sales and marketing Kenneth Marovu has said.
Despite the rise in demand for LPG in the country, particularly in urban areas, there are still gaps in distribution and supply of the energy source amongst rural populations.
Speaking to The Standard on the sidelines of the company’s brand ambassador unveiling on Wednesday, Marovu said they decided to engage Radio Zimbabwe presenter Season “Chikara” Ndundu in order to attract consumers nationwide.
“As Kensys Gas, we have a mandate to ensure that the product is available to everyone wherever they are. so we just thought that with Ndundu’s influence and connections, he is the right person to help us achieve that,” said Marovu.
“We have been working with him for a while now and he is one of the most listened to radio personalities especially in the most remote places in Zimbabwe like Mutorashanga, Zaka Jerera and Murambinda. so we just thought this was a strategic move for us to partner and take our work across the country.”

Apart from distribution and supply of LPG, Kensys specialises in the sale of related products like gas cylinders and installations for individuals and corporates.
Ndundu, who was given a courtesy car to aid his activities as a brand ambassador, said synergies between corporates and the media could help influence citizens on use of efficient and sustainable energy.
“I am happy with this partnership and recognition of my work. It is encouraging to see that some corporates understand that healthy relations with the media can help in building brands and encouraging sustainable living,” said the revered radio personality.
Despite a rise in the use of LPG in homes and business locally, the number of people still dependent on unsustainable energy sources like wood fuel are alarming.
This has resulted in the loss of vegetation to the detriment of the environment at a time there are global calls to reassess daily activities in accordance with the dangers presented by climate change.
