United Kingdom-based songstress Ivy Kombo Kasi has dropped a tribute song to the late gospel diva Jackie Madondo.

Titled St Jackie, the emotional track chronicles how Madondo died in an accident while on the way to perform at the popular Nguva Yakwana gospel concert.

Kombo-Kasi’s husband and manager Addy Kasi yesterday said the song is meant to remember and commemorate the life of Madondo.

“The song is called St Jackie. It’s Ivy who first introduced Jackie to the studio, collecting her from Hatfield High School where she was doing her A’ Level and bringing her into Gramma Studios to do backing vocals on her songs, then later to the Gospel Train Studios until later Jackie was able to record with her own group Vessels of Honour,” said Kasi.

“Jackie died on her way to perform at the Nguva Yakwana, hence the lyrics Hauna Kusvika. We had to drop this song in memory of such a fine voice.”
