Masvingo is positioning itself as an investment-ready province through the inaugural Masvingo Community Trailblazers Awards (MCTA) 2026, an initiative aimed at identifying and showcasing the province’s leading economic actors.
The Office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution has authorised Perfection Media Pvt Ltd to host the awards, with public nominations opening last Monday.
The initiative seeks to identify the province’s 60 leading economic players across its seven districts and profile their contributions to local economic development, with the information expected to be packaged for potential investors.
The initiative will culminate in a VVIP gala dinner on September 4, 2026, at Urban Lifestyles Hotel in Masvingo.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira, who was recently honoured with the Presidential Best Overall Performance Award, has endorsed the initiative.
Zim Community Trailblazers Awards (ZCTA) founder and chief executive officer Albert Masaka said the awards were designed to go beyond recognising individuals and businesses through conventional accolades.

“We are moving far beyond the simple handing over of decorative trophies. MCTA 2026 is an active, verified operational framework,” Masaka said.
“Our goal is to map the definitive footprint of regional success stories across all seven districts of Masvingo, creating a pristine economic database for National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) tracking.”
According to organisers, the project is aligned with the Second Republic’s devolution agenda and the national philosophy “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo”, which emphasises locally driven development.
The organisers said the initiative would document grassroots economic milestones and translate them into data that can be used to demonstrate the province’s economic potential.
Following similar programmes in the Midlands, Mashonaland East and Chitungwiza, the Masvingo Top 60 database will be compiled into a Post-Event Investor Digest designed to profile the province’s leading economic actors and investment opportunities.
The database will also be stored digitally on the ZCTA portal and subsequently handed over to the Permanent Secretary for Devolution, Addmore Pazvakavambwa, according to the organisers.
They said the database would provide an institutional baseline for monitoring economic activity and supporting efforts to attract investment into Masvingo.
The organisers are now calling on members of the public, businesses and other stakeholders to nominate individuals and organisations they believe have made a significant contribution to the province’s socio-economic development.
The awards are expected to shine a spotlight on entrepreneurs, businesses, community leaders and other economic actors whose work is contributing to employment creation, innovation, investment and community development across Masvingo.
