The Gwanda magistrates’ court has sentenced a 46 year-old man to an effective 19 years imprisonment for raping his daughter aged 10.
The court heard that on July 12 this year, the convict was left in care of his children after his wife went to visit relatives.
The victim went to sleep in the offender's bedroom alongside her siblings.
During the night, the offender sexually assaulted his daughter.
He continued the abuse until the July 15 after his daughter reported the abuse to her mother upon her return.
A report was filed with the police, leading to the man's arrest.

"The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) warns that perpetrators of sexual violence will be prosecuted and held accountable," the Authority said.
