BULAWAYO, Jul 30 (Southern Eye Live) - Mines and Mining Development minister Polite Kambamura has revealed that Zimbabwe has over 60 known mineral occurences, but only a small fraction has been commercially exploited.
Kambamura was addressing guests during an exploration symposium running concurrently with Mine Entra at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo this Thursday.
"Zimbabwe has over 60 known mineral occurrences featuring major resources like gold, platinum group metals, and lithium," he said.
"While the country is geologically diverse, only a fraction of these documented mineral types are actively and commercially exploited on a large scale."
Kambamura highlighted that the Mines and Minerals Bill seeks to reshape prospecting and exploration rights so that the country drives full benefit from its resources.
