The Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has significantly improved learning conditions at Chingwizi Primary School in Mwenezi East constituency, Ward 2, following the completion of a new classroom block and a teachers’ house.

The school, which caters for 591 learners from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade Seven, is now benefitting from a modern classroom block fitted with ramps to ensure accessibility for learners with disabilities, as well as a newly constructed F12 teachers’ house.

In a statement, the Parliament of Zimbabwe said the projects demonstrate the impact of the CDF in strengthening education infrastructure and promoting inclusive learning.

“The Constituency Development Fund has significantly transformed Chingwizi Primary School in Mwenezi East constituency, ward 2, through the completion of a beautifully roofed classroom block and the construction of an F12 teachers’ house,” the statement read.

“The classroom block, which includes ramps to ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities, has enhanced the learning environment for the school’s 591 learners from ECD to Grade Seven by providing safe, inclusive and conducive learning spaces.”

Parliament said the construction of the teachers’ house had also addressed accommodation challenges that had affected educators at the school.

“The newly constructed teachers’ house has alleviated staff accommodation challenges, improved teacher retention and strengthened the school’s capacity to deliver quality education,” the statement said.

“These projects demonstrate the CDF’s commitment to expanding access to inclusive education and improving the welfare of both learners and teachers.”

Mwenezi East MP Sheillah Chikomo said the completed projects reflect her commitment to improving education infrastructure across the constituency through the effective utilisation of the CDF.

“This project is a clear demonstration of our commitment to improving education in Mwenezi East,” she said.

“The new classroom block and teachers’ house will create a better learning environment for our children and improve working conditions for our teachers.

“We will continue to use the Constituency Development Fund to deliver meaningful development that benefits our communities.”

The projects are part of ongoing efforts to utilise CDF allocations to improve public infrastructure in rural communities, particularly in the education sector.

Villagers have welcomed the developments, saying the new facilities will improve teaching and learning while making Chingwizi Primary School a more attractive workplace for teachers serving the remote community.
