The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion has intensified efforts to improve tax compliance and strengthen domestic resource mobilisation through a tax education campaign conducted in partnership with the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra).
The ministry said the initiative was part of government efforts to build a transparent, accountable and inclusive economy anchored on sustainable domestic revenue generation.
“The Tax Education Campaign seeks to improve tax compliance and domestic resource mobilisation by helping citizens and businesses understand tax laws and their obligations,” the ministry said.
Strengthening tax awareness, the ministry added, was essential in creating a compliant tax culture capable of supporting economic growth and national development priorities.
“This initiative also links tax compliance to development outcomes under the National Development Strategy 2, demonstrating how tax revenues directly fund the national budget and support public service delivery across various sectors of the economy.”
The ministry stressed that the national budget process operates within constitutional and legal frameworks designed to promote transparency, accountability and prudent public financial management.
