Bulawayo-based tshilibika artist Brighton Maphosa, popularly known as King Phosa or Nkayi Challenges, is set to release his latest single, Bambiza Ngenduna, on April 17.

Born and raised in Nkayi, where he completed both his primary and secondary education, the artist said his musical journey began in church before relocating to Bulawayo to pursue music professionally.

“I started singing in church and later decided to take music seriously,” said King Phosa.

In 2021, he formed a band as he worked to establish himself in the tshilibika music scene. His breakthrough came in 2024 with the song Makoti, which earned him wider recognition.

“That song opened opportunities for me,” he said.

“I travelled to Harare, where I won US$500 together with my team for the album Ngixakwe Ngabantu. I was also recognised as one of the best Tshilobika artists in 2024.”

Speaking about his upcoming release, King Phosa said Bambiza Ngenduna carries a strong social message.

“This song talks about how people sometimes respect others only because they have money,” he said.

He added that the track also reflects how leadership and recognition in society — including in churches and workplaces — can be influenced by wealth.

King Phosa said the song is meant to encourage equality and mutual respect within communities.

“We must learn to love and respect each other whether someone has money or not,” he said.
