The Zifa Central Region Soccer League is set to roar into life on Saturday, with returning teams Kwekwe United and Gwanda Pirates emerging as favourites.

As usual, the league is expected to be a thrilling ride, but this time Sheasham FC is not in the mix after disbanding last year when they failed to gain promotion.

New contenders are expected to emerge, with perennial campaigners Chapungu FC also angling to return to the PSL.

Gwanda Pirates and Kwekwe United have been flexing their muscles in the transfer market in a bid for promotion.

Kwekwe United secured decent sponsorship from Betterbrands and have made key signings, including Partson Jaure and Valentine Kadonzvo, while Pirates appear financially sound this time around. Venues for the matches are yet to be confirmed.

The opening fixtures promise to be intense, with Chapungu FC taking on Blanket Mine FC, while West Nicholson FC hosts Grain Tigers FC.
