The dusty roads of Zaka have long carried stories of resilience and identity.

Now, those stories are set to echo far beyond its boundaries, not by word of mouth, but through streaming platforms, as rising Zaka twins prepare to release their debut EP.

Taurai and Tawanda Murere are set to drop Zaka Ndokumba (Zaka is Home), a project they describe as a mission to immortalise their roots.

In an era where many chase global sounds, the twins have chosen to turn inward, transforming their rural upbringing — its rivers, schools, and growth points — into lyrical monuments.

Growing up without industry backing, far from Zimbabwe’s entertainment hubs, the twins knew they had to tell their own story. “Our first audience is the people of Zaka,” Taurai explained.

“They will connect to it first because they know the life we’re talking about.”

The EP promises a fusion of youthful dancehall energy with conscious storytelling and a touch of gospel, reflecting their upbringing as church boys.

“This spiritual layer grounds the project in both faith and reality,” Taurai added.

A redemption arc marks the release; after facing challenges with a previous track, the duo returns with renewed determination.

The project also bridges cultures, featuring collaborations with Ysk HKD and a powerful Ndebele verse from Cendy Q, celebrating Zimbabwe’s diversity.

While drawing inspiration from fellow Zaka son Nox Guni, the twins are forging their own path. Scheduled for an April release, “Zaka Ndokumba” is timed to align with a period of holiday and spiritual reflection, blending celebration with faith.

With no major promoters, they are building momentum from the ground up, using social media as their stage.

Ultimately, this is more than an EP launch; it is a declaration that Zaka matters.

When “Zaka Ndokumba” drops, it won’t just introduce two new artists—it will introduce a place and a perspective that refuses to be overlooked.

The twins are proving that home is not just where you’re from, it is who you are.
