The Mberengwa district community has welcomed the completion of newly constructed classroom blocks at Gomututu Secondary School, praising the initiative as a major step forward in improving rural education.

The construction of the classroom blocks was financed through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The new structures provide spacious, well-ventilated learning spaces, replacing overcrowded and outdated classrooms that previously hampered teaching and learning.

Community members and school authorities commended the development, describing it as timely and impactful.

“Finally, our children have a proper environment to learn. This is a clear sign that the government values rural education and is committed to improving our schools,” said Lucia Dube, a parent whose children attend Gomututu Secondary.

Local leader Tinashe Moyo echoed similar sentiment, highlighting the long-term benefits for the community.

“This development is not just about bricks and mortar; it represents opportunity, hope and the promise of a better future for our children. We commend the initiative and urge learners to take full advantage of these facilities,” he said.

Another community member, Patrick Zhou, stressed the importance of maximising the opportunity.

“The doors are open; it’s up to the students to walk through them and shape their futures. This initiative is a chance for all of us to invest in knowledge and growth,” he said.

School authorities highlighted that the additional space will reduce congestion, improve teacher-student interaction, and create a conducive environment for learning.

“This is a welcome initiative, and we hope more schools in Mberengwa and other rural areas will benefit. It shows that when government and community work together, real change happens,” said a local teacher.
