A 48-year-old teacher from Nkayi has been arraigned before the courts for alleged indecent assault of a 14-year-old learner.
Wellington Ncube (48), who works at Sesemba Primary School under Chief Madliwa's jurisdiction, appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Shingirai Mutiro facing a charge of aggravated indecent assault.
He was remanded in custody to today for trial.
The court was told that on September 20 last year, around 12pm, the victim was at home when Ncube arrived, claiming he had revision material for her.
He allegedly suggested picking up another learner and told her to sit in the front seat of his vehicle.
The victim consented and took the front passenger seat.
Ncube allegedly drove towards Sesemba business centre, where he pulled over and parked on the roadside.
During court proceedings, it was revealed that Ncube lifted the victim's dress, despite her resistance.
Two days later, around 10am during break at the primary school, Ncube allegedly called the victim indicating that he wanted to continue where they left.
He allegedly reached into her pants and inserted his finger in her private parts.
The teacher allegedly instructed the learner to return afterwards.
The victim informed her parents about the incident, which led to a police report and consequently Ncube's arrest.
She was taken to hospital for examination and a medical report was presented in court as evidence.
