CHIREDZI, June 16 (NewsDay Live) — Nine people, including two minors, died on the spot while 25 others were injured this Tuesday morning when a conventional bus collided with a train at a rail-level crossing in Chiredzi.

Twenty-five injured passengers have been taken to hospital.

The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) attributed the accident to human error.

"The accident occurred when the driver of the bus failed to observe level crossing rules, which require drivers to stop and check for oncoming trains before proceeding," the NRZ said, urging motorists to exercise extreme caution when approaching rail-level crossings.
