TN CyberTech Bank and EcoCash have launched a nationwide ATM integration allowing customers to perform cash-in and cash-out transactions directly at TN CyberTech ATMs, signalling a major shift away from Zimbabwe’s long-dominant mobile money agent model.

For years, EcoCash users relied heavily on agents for withdrawals and deposits, often facing long queues, limited operating hours and cash shortages.

Under the new arrangement, customers can now access EcoCash services at TN CyberTech ATMs around the clock without needing an agent.

“You no longer need to wait for an agent if you are near a TN CyberTech branch. The ATM is the agent now,” the institutions said this week.

The system enables 24-hour cash-in and cash-out services, including transactions in US dollars, through TN CyberTech’s ATM network.

The move places TN CyberTech among a growing number of local banks deploying deposit-enabled ATMs, but analysts say the EcoCash integration gives the bank a potentially disruptive edge in Zimbabwe’s mobile money ecosystem.

For TN CyberTech, the partnership also represents a strategic expansion of its digital banking model.

Every EcoCash user transacting at a TN CyberTech ATM effectively becomes a potential banking customer, turning the ATM network into a low-cost customer acquisition platform.

The rollout also reinforces founder Livingstone Nyambirai’s long-held position that TN CyberTech is designed around digital infrastructure rather than traditional branch-heavy banking.

By replacing human intermediaries with automated infrastructure, the bank could reduce operational costs while extending service hours beyond conventional banking times.

The development is particularly significant given EcoCash’s historical reliance on a vast network of agents and small retail outlets that helped build its dominance in Zimbabwe’s mobile money sector.

Industry observers say the long-term impact of the partnership will depend largely on scale.

While ATMs located at existing TN CyberTech branches improve convenience for nearby users, analysts argue that wider deployment in fuel stations, shopping centres and transport hubs would have a far greater effect on Zimbabwe’s cash economy.

If successfully expanded, the initiative could strengthen TN CyberTech’s positioning as a digital-first bank while reshaping how Zimbabweans access mobile money services.
