A KADOMA man has been arrested for murdering his pregnant daughter and wife in a brutal knife attack that has shocked residents of the cotton and gold producing city of Mashonaland West province.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Obert Namurokosi (45) handed himself over to police after the incident on May 3.

The violence reportedly stemmed from a domestic dispute on Friday, which forced Cynthia Namurokosi (45) to flee and seek refuge at her daughter’s home.

However, the suspect followed her.

Nyathi said Namurokosi stormed the house on Saturday, armed with a kitchen knife and attacked his daughter, Takudzwa Namurokosi (23), who was nine months pregnant, before turning on his wife.

“He attacked his daughter first. Takudzwa Namurokosi, 23, who was nine months pregnant, was stabbed multiple times,” Nyathi said.

"He then turned on his wife, stabbing her in the neck. Both women died on the spot.

“[Say] no to domestic violence and murder,” Nyathi said after confirming the arrest.

The incident has left the Victory Park community shocked, with residents saying Cynthia had sought safety from her daughter, only for tragedy to strike both.

Police have urged victims of domestic violence to report early to prevent escalation.
