Industry and Commerce Minister Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu has commended the media for its critical role in amplifying Zimbabwe’s profile during the recently concluded Zimbabwe International Trade Fair 2026, describing journalists as indispensable partners in national development.

Speaking at a post-ZITF 2026 media briefing on Sunday, Ndlovu said the annual engagement with journalists had become an important tradition to review the exhibition and exchange ideas.

“It has become our ritual that on the Sunday after ZITF we have a discussion with you as a very important stakeholder in our annual exhibition, just to exchange ideas,” he said.

The minister praised the scale of this year’s coverage, revealing that more than 800 media practitioners were accredited for the 2026 exhibition.

“Many of you might not be aware that we had over 800 accredited media persons for this exhibition. As we see you here, we know you represent a large contingent behind you,” he said.

Ndlovu said journalists play a vital role beyond the fairgrounds by helping project Zimbabwe to international audiences and promoting the country’s economic opportunities.

“In no time, what we are sharing here will have reached all corners of the world, certainly projecting our country beyond our borders,” he added.

The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair is one of Zimbabwe’s premier economic platforms, bringing together local and international exhibitors, investors and policymakers.

This year’s strong media presence reflected growing interest in Zimbabwe’s trade and investment opportunities, as well as the rising importance of strategic communication in driving economic growth.

The post-event briefing also reaffirmed government’s commitment to maintaining strong relations with the media sector in promoting transparency, information dissemination and national development.
