HARARE, Apr. 23 (NewsDay Live) – Construction of the Fairfields Road over-rail bridge at the 203km peg along the Harare–Masvingo–Beitbridge highway will begin on May 3, 2026, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has said.
In a public notice, the ministry said the project will run for nearly seven months, with completion scheduled for November 30, 2026.
“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development wishes to inform the public that construction of the Fairfields Road over-rail bridge along the Harare–Masvingo–Beitbridge road at the 203km peg will commence on May 3, 2026 and is scheduled to continue through to November 30, 2026,” the notice read.
Authorities said traffic will be maintained via a designated diversion.
“During this period, the rehabilitated existing road will serve as the detour route,” the ministry said, adding that safety measures are in place.
“This road will be maintained in good condition throughout the construction phase to ensure safe and reliable travel. All necessary signage has been installed to guide drivers and manage traffic effectively.”
