MWOS coach Lloyd Mutasa has allayed fears over the severity of the injury sustained by utility player Reginald Chinemo during Saturday’s narrow 1-0 defeat at Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Chinemo was carried off the pitch in the 43rd minute, his legs wrapped in blood-stained bandages, visibly distressed by what appeared to be a significant shin injury. Reports this morning had painted a bleak picture, suggesting the player faced an enforced layoff of up to a month.
However, speaking this afternoon, Mutasa offered a far more optimistic assessment.
While a definitive diagnosis is delayed until tomorrow to allow the initial swelling to subside, the early indicators remain remarkably positive. Indeed, the MWOS coach refused to rule Chinemo out of the midweek fixture against Manica Diamonds at Ngoni Stadium on Wednesday, where his side will look to bounce back from the weekend's disappointment.
"It’s a bad injury but I’m sure he will recover," Mutasa told NewsDaySport. "We rested him today and we will continue to monitor him. But he had a light jog in the morning. We will have the full picture after he has been assessed by the doctors tomorrow. But people should not be surprised to see him on Wednesday or against Hunters at the weekend."
