ZIMBABWE Women are set to host South Africa Women in a historic five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo in September, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) announced.
The matches will be played on September 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19, with all fixtures scheduled for the Bulawayo venue.
The tour will mark the first-ever visit to Zimbabwe by South Africa's senior women's national team, in what is expected to be a significant milestone for women's cricket in the region.
Zimbabwe Women last hosted an international series at home in September and October 2025 when they faced the United Arab Emirates Women at the same venue. Since then, the Lady Chevrons have been on the road, undertaking challenging tours that included trips to New Zealand and Pakistan.
The upcoming series offers Zimbabwe an opportunity to measure their progress against one of the world's leading women's cricket teams as they continue rebuilding following a disappointing outing at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier held in Nepal earlier this year.
While Zimbabwe Women have frequently faced South Africa Women's Emerging side, encounters between the two senior national teams have been rare. Their only previous meetings came during an ODI quadrangular tournament held in Potchefstroom, South Africa, in May 2017.
South Africa arrive in Zimbabwe as one of the powerhouses of the women's game. Ranked fifth in the ICC Women's T20I Team Rankings, the Proteas Women have established themselves among the elite nations in the shortest format and finished runners-up at the last two ICC Women's T20 World Cups.
Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Givemore Makoni said the series represented another important step in the development of women's cricket in the country.

"We are pleased to welcome South Africa Women to Zimbabwe for what promises to be a historic and exciting series," Makoni said.
"South Africa are one of the strongest teams in world cricket and this tour presents our players with a valuable opportunity to test themselves against elite opposition in home conditions.
"This series reflects Zimbabwe Cricket's continued commitment to investing in the women's game and creating more opportunities for our players to compete at the highest level.
"We believe these matches will contribute significantly to the development of our national team while also inspiring the next generation of women to take up the sport."
The series is expected to provide Zimbabwe Women with valuable exposure against top-quality opposition as they seek to strengthen their standing on the international stage and build towards future ICC competitions.
