THE third edition of the annual National Arts Merit Awards (Nama) Golf Day, held on Friday at Royal Harare Gold Club, turned out to be a success as it attracted a significant number of artistes, corporates and administrators in the creative sectors.

Organised by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) and Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation (JCMC), the event serves as a platform where artistes from various genres and disciplines get an opportunity to interact and market their works to potential investors or employers on the golf course.

Faith Chimbambo (pictured) was crowned the winner of this year’s edition of the event which attracted a total of 126 amateur and a few professional golfers drawn from different corporates and the arts industry.

She was awarded with a regional air ticket from Air Zimbabwe, WIFI printer (with box of bond paper) from M&G Stationery and clothing voucher from 4 May.

Chimbambo said she was happy to win the tournament and thanked the organisers of the event.

“I would like to thank the organisers and sponsors of this event. I’m happy that I came first.I do not have a golfing secret. I just do what Tiger Woods does,” she said.

There were also exciting prizes on offer for the top players in other categories like best dressed, most golf, nearest to pin men and ladies, longest drive contests for both men and ladies.

JCMC operations manager Tinashe Kitchen said the tournament was a huge success judging by the number of participants.

“The Nama Golf Day was a great success. In total, we had over 100 golfers including artists all of whom enjoyed a day of networking, collaboration and strategic planning surrounding the Nama and the arts sector in general. We are grateful to our partners Old Mutual, Cabs, Seedco, Air Zimbabwe, 4 May, Dariro Mode, Zimbabwe Independent, M&G Stationery, Infinix and Tecno who helped make the event possible.
