Property CEOs Dialogue to focus on Zimbabwe's construction boom

HARARE – Few sectors illustrate Zimbabwe's economic transformation as visibly as construction.

Across Zimbabwe's cities and towns, new residential estates, commercial centres, industrial parks and mixed-use developments are steadily redefining the nation's skyline, reflecting sustained investment in the country's built environment.

The growth is underpinned by a pressing national need for housing. Zimbabwe's housing deficit is estimated at more than 1.5 million units, creating significant demand for new residential developments and positioning the property sector as one of the country's key investment frontiers.

Industry data also indicates that more than 60 new multi-unit residential developments were brought to market between 2023 and 2025, with major projects concentrated in Harare, Ruwa, Gweru, Victoria Falls and other urban growth centres.

A drive along Harare's eastern corridor offers a vivid illustration of this transformation. From Blessed Park and Silverbrook to Donnybrook, Mabvazuva, Sunway City, Timire Park and Dabuka, new housing developments continue to reshape the landscape along Mutare Road.

Similar developments are changing the face of communities across Zimbabwe as developers respond to growing demand for quality housing and commercial space.

The expansion extends beyond residential property. Office parks, retail centres, industrial developments, hospitality facilities and supporting infrastructure are also emerging across the country, reinforcing the property sector's growing contribution to employment creation, capital investment and economic growth.

Against this backdrop, Africa Exhibitions Group has launched the Property CEOs Dialogue, an invitation-only executive platform designed to bring together senior leaders from the property, finance, infrastructure, investment and public sectors to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping Zimbabwe's real estate industry.

The platform recognises that while cranes, construction equipment and new developments are visible symbols of growth, the long-term success of the sector depends on collaboration between developers, financiers, policymakers, infrastructure providers and professional bodies.

Africa Exhibitions Group Non-executive Chairman Dr Tawafadza Makoni said Zimbabwe's property sector has reached a stage where structured engagement among industry leaders has become increasingly important.

"Zimbabwe's property sector is entering an exciting phase of growth, driven by rising demand, infrastructure investment and increasing market confidence. Sustaining that momentum requires continuous dialogue among the leaders responsible for financing, planning, regulating and delivering the developments that are shaping our communities. The Property CEOs Dialogue has been created to provide that platform.”

“The pace at which Zimbabwe's property sector is evolving means that no single organisation has all the answers. Developers, investors, financial institutions, policymakers and infrastructure providers all have a stake in shaping the industry's future. Platforms that encourage informed dialogue, knowledge sharing and collaboration have never been more important. The conversations we have today will influence the communities we build tomorrow."

The Dialogue will provide a trusted environment for executive-level discussions on investment, infrastructure, urban development, financing, sustainability, policy and market confidence while strengthening collaboration between the private sector and Government institutions.

By bringing together developers, financial institutions, investors, infrastructure providers, policymakers and professional organisations, the initiative seeks to generate practical insights that support long-term sector growth while contributing to Zimbabwe's broader economic development.

The Property CEOs Dialogue complements the Zimbabwe Property Expo and Zimbabwe Property Excellence Awards by extending industry engagement beyond exhibitions and recognition programmes to include year-round thought leadership, institutional collaboration and strategic dialogue.

As Zimbabwe's construction boom continues to reshape cities and communities, the Property CEOs Dialogue aims to ensure that the conversations driving the sector are as visionary as the developments transforming the country's skyline.
