Emmanuel Dziva (26) appeared before Zvishavane magistrate Story Rushambwa, who referred the case to the Gweru Regional Court for trial on July 7.
It was the State’s case that on September 24 2013, the girl went to Dziva’s house and asked if she could charge a cellphone using his solar charger.
The State said Dziva told the girl to enter his hut and place the cellphone on the charger herself.
It was alleged that when she went inside, Dziva locked the door and grabbed the girl and raped her once.
The girl fell pregnant, but concealed both the rape and pregnancy.
The girl’s mother discovered that her daughter was pregnant when the girl visited her in Harare, but she refused to reveal the identity of the person responsible.
