According to MTN Football, the Ajax Cape Town forward failed to impress Leonid Kuchuk the new coach for Lokomotiv Moscow  during his four-day trial stint.

It is understood, however, the Zimbabwean international could still secure a move overseas with another club either in Belgium or France. This is despite interest from South African clubs Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

The player’s handlers are believed to be keen on trying an overseas option first before listening to offers in South Africa. Clubs in France and Belgium are reportedly interested in securing the services of Billiat, with Genk in the Belgian league reportedly his most likely destination.

However, his representative Edzai Kasinauyo told Southern Eye Sport yesterday that they were still waiting for official reports from the Russian club on the outcome of the trials.

“Once we get the official reports then we will be in a position to know the way forward. It’s difficult to say much on this at the moment because we are still to get official communication from the club.”

The 22-year-old former Caps United forward is one of the most sought-after players in South Africa with both Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns battling out for his services. Billiat has not hidden his desire to play his football abroad. He recently told his club website he thought he made an impression. “The trial was a good experience for me. Lokomotiv Moscow is a big team and the training sessions are very tough.

“They are very professional in their approach to everything that they do and having been part of their pre-season camp would hopefully help me to take my game to another level.

“The training sessions are not much different to those of Ajax Cape Town, however, under  Kuchuk they concentrate a lot on the tactical aspects of the game. “We would be training and the session would be stopped by the technical team who would then explain when the ball must be played, the movement off the ball and the shape of the defence and attack. . . etc.

“We played two friendlies during our training camp. Unfortunately we lost both games. I came on as a substitute for both friendlies. The players are big and very physical. However, they also play a good brand of football.

“Dame N’Doyé (Senegal) and Victor Obinna (Nigeria) helped me to settle in and to understand the culture of the club as well as what is expected from the players.

“The club and the fans expect a lot from the players, so they put a lot of effort into everything they do on the field.

“I enjoyed my time with Lokomotiv Moscow and hopefully I made a good impression during my time with the team,” he added.
