Urban state land defaulters given 3 month ultimatum

The government has given beneficiaries of urban state land allocations a final three-month ultimatum to settle outstanding payments and fulfil all contractual obligations or risk having their land repossessed.

Local Government and Public Works ministry permanent secretary, John Basera, said the ministry had noticed significant non-compliance among beneficiaries of urban state land allocations.

“A significant number of allottees have failed to pay the purchase price for allocated land and settle outstanding balances, pay any other statutory charges due to the government, surrender and transfer the requisite commonage stands and other land due to the government in accordance with the terms and conditions of their allocation, development permits, agreements or approvals and comply with other obligations stipulated in their allocation documents,” he said.
