Zanu PF treasurer-general Patrick Chinamasa has praised transport moguls Leonard Mukumba and Esau Mupfumi for helping the ruling party with transport logistics at key gatherings.
Chinamasa, a politburo member, made the remarks on Sunday at a Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill rally in Mutare, where he was guest of honour.
The event was attended by senior Zanu PF officials, including Paul Tungwarara, Douglas Mahiya, Tawanda Mukodza and Misheck Mugadza.
Chinamasa said Zanu PF operations were being sustained by businesspeople, adding that all 10 provinces were no longer paying party subscriptions.
“We have transport operators Mukumba and Mupfumi. They have done well in the transport sector, transporting our party members to key Zanu PF events,” he said.
“They have done well and sustained the party in that category.”
He added: “All the 10 provinces are no longer paying subscriptions, but we have business people who are sustaining the party. This did not start today. Even before Independence, we had people who sustained the party.”
Chinamasa also thanked businessmen Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Wicknell Chivayo and Scott Sakupwanya for financially supporting the party.
