BULAWAYO, Mar. 5 (NewDay Live) —The Zimbabwe Republic Police have launched a massive manhunt for a gang of armed robbers who raided a financial services outlet in the city center yesterday morning, making off with more than USD 78,000 and ZAR 500,000 in a calculated daylight heist.

The robbery occurred at approximately 07:08 hours at a premise located along Jason Moyo Street, between 8th and 9th Avenue.

According to Preliminary investigations by the Police, a female employee at the shop was approached by unknown suspects while parking a motor vehicle upon arrival for duty. The suspects forcibly escorted her into the offices and ordered her to open the strong room and a Chubb safe. Subsequently, the suspects took cash from the safe.

In a bid to stall the police response and erase evidence of their identities, the suspects also dismantled and stole the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and the panic button before fleeing through the building's back exit.

In a press statement released yesterday, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said that they confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are currently underway to identify and track down the perpetrators and they are also appealing for information which may assist in the on-going investigations.

"The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information which may assist in the on-going investigations to contact the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631 or WhatsApp 0712 800 197, or report at any nearest police station”, said ZRP Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
