NEWSDAY wishes to retract an article published in the newspaper and on its website on May 16, 2024, headlined, Kazembe fingered in Jumbo Mine fiasco.
This retraction is in acknowledgement of the fact that the story appears to mean that Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe and other senior officials from Mashonaland Central province had intended or attempted to unlawfully seize Jumbo Mine.
We have established that minister Kazembe had neither interest in the mine nor dispatched people to help him unlawfully possess the mine.
We take this opportunity to apologise to Honourable minister Kazembe for the harm that may have been caused to his reputation as a result.
