HARARE, Feb. 6 (NewsDay Live) – Former Zanu PF central committee member and fierce critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Blessed “Bombshell” Geza, has died at a hospital in South Africa.

Geza’s family confirmed the development in a statement, saying burial arrangements were underway and that further details would be shared in due course.

“We urge Zimbabweans to be strong during this trying moment… Funeral arrangements are being made, and we will share the details soon,” the statement read.

Geza was a vocal critic of President Mnangagwa, accusing him of corruption and betraying the ideals of the liberation struggle.

Sources said he had been suffering from a heart ailment and had been unwell for some time.

Geza, who was expelled from the Zanu PF party in March 2025, had been in hiding after calling for nationwide protests against Mnangagwa’s government.

He had also faced multiple charges, including incitement to public violence and undermining the president’s authority.
