PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday appointed former Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) director-general Isaac Moyo ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
The appointments were announced in an Extraordinary Government Gazette released by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Martin Rushwaya yesterday.
“It is hereby notified that His Excellency the President has, in terms of section 110(2)(i) as read with section 204 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No 20) Act 2013, appointed Isaac Annanias Moyo ambassador to the United Arab Emirates,” Rushwaya said.
Before the latest appointment, Moyo was CIO director-general from immediately after the 2017 military coup to early this year and before that he was Zimbabwe’s ambassador to South Africa.
Mnangagwa also appointed Ronald Patrick Mutasa Zimbabwe’s top envoy to Cuba.
Previously, Mutasa was deputy director responsible for general administration in the CIO before a major shake-up in the spy agency early this year.
Seasoned career diplomat, Lovemore Mazemo, who has risen through the ranks in the Foreign Affairs and International Trade ministry from 1983 to date, was appointed ambassador to South Africa, replacing David Douglas Hamadziripi who was shunted to the United States in Washington D.C.
