A ZIMBABWEAN woman has been nominated for the 2024 Women Changing the World global awards.

Philanthropist and pharmacologist, Iris Nozizwe Mhlanga, who runs the Nozizwe Mother of Nations Trust, said she never dreamt that her works would be  globally recognised.

“I feel like I am dreaming,” she said.

“It is humbling that my name is being mentioned in countries and rooms I have never set foot in by great people overseas I never dreamed of meeting in this lifetime.”

The awards, presented by Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson and world-renowned educator Tererai Trent, celebrate and recognise women for achieving outstanding success in areas such as sustainability, humanitarian work, leadership, advocacy, tech, product development, education, health and innovation.

The awards aim to elevate, celebrate, connect and support women in their journey as change makers, trailblazers and leaders.

Ferguson said: “Our aim is to give voice to silent whispers. We want to lift women up all over the world and tell their stories.”

Trent said: “Women hold the ideas and leadership to heal the world. We are strong already, but together we are stronger.

“These exceptional women are here to awaken hearts, give permission to recapture dreams and inspire the women of the world to come together to forge a brighter path for all.

“The rising of women is the awakening of everybody,” she said.

Mhlanga’s Trust was established in 2018 to assist the underprivileged, people with disabilities, widows and orphans as well as the homeless.
